Those who love Spain and have spent most popular tourist destinations can go to visit some secret cities of this country. Some of them are in the coastal region and all have important historical monuments and great institutions.

Here are some of the most beautiful cities hidden in Spain:


Salamanca is one of the most beautiful and most important university cities in Spain. Located in the western country, 200 km from Madrid, Salamanca is appreciated for its schools, but also for its special architecture. Many foreigners come here to learn Spanish.

University of Salamanca is one of the oldest in Western Europe. The city has many palaces, old houses and museums. Center of town was declared UNESCO world monument.


Almeria is a city in southern Spain, in Andalusia, located on the Mediterranean Sea shore. The city was founded in 955 AD. One of the main attractions is the Alcazaba, a medieval fortress whose construction began in the thirteenth century and was destroyed by an earthquake in 1522.

Almeria Cathedral was built, among others, also the defensive role, with fortress appearance. Other important sights are San Cristobal Castle Museum and Almeria Santiago Renaissance church. Tourists tend to walk on the Paseo de COCHES, a promenade with gardens and palm trees.


Figueres is a must see destination for those who appreciate the art of Salvador Dali and, in general, surreal works. The artist was born in this city, and today, Figueres, has a museum dedicated to Dali: Dali Theatre-Museum. The town has several very beautiful buildings, built in neoclassical style and modernist. Medieval Castle Sant Ferran is one of the most important sights.

In the surroundings you can visit other attractions, such as paints the seaside village, Port de la Selva with monastery Sant Pere of Rodes, Castello d'Empuries etc.
